Caroline and Scott were introduced through friends, it was Scott’s birthday party and Caroline had baked the cake, her first cake ever! Sweet! That was 2009, and now, they are getting married. I was so happy when they decided to do an engagement session to get a little practice in front of the lens before the big day, I LOVE it when my couples do engagement sessions, always so much fun! This session took place at Kikaua Point Beach Park, one of my very favorite places on this Big Island. Caroline and Scott, you are an amazing couple and I’m so excited to be capturing your wedding on Sunday! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!
I was so excited when Morgan, my lighting assistant asked me to do a mother daughter photo session with her, her sister Sara and and her mom Cheri! The Taylor ladies are all beautiful and easy to photograph, very natural in front of the camera. We had the best time that day. It was so great to have a group of girls together with nothing but positive happy energy! After this shoot, I realized how awesome mother daughter photo sessions are. Years from now, when Morgan and Sara have left home or get married, Cheri will look back at these photos and always remember the day she and her daughter got glammed up for a photo shoot at Anaeho’omalu beach.
Thank you, lovely Taylor ladies, for making this shoot so amazing.
Mike and Deane were married on February 15, 5 years ago in Hawaii and they decided to come back for their wedding anniversary…. They are a really fun couple and we all had a great time hanging out and photographing the adventure. Their anniversary photography session took place at Anaeho’omalu Bay beach which fronts the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.
On January 1, 2012, Hawaii finally recognized same sex marriage, making Hawaii the seventh state to permit civil unions or similar legal recognitions for same sex couples.
I am thrilled that same sex couples in Hawaii have finally been given the same legal rights as everyone else, many congrats to the gay & lesbian community! Before the law passed though, I had actually already photographed a few lesbian and gay weddings.
What always gets to me is the overwhelming support I have seen for couples who have chosen to celebrate their lives so openly, and now legally! It is touching to witness such love and acceptance.
Del Rae & Doede were married yesterday by Rev. April Weaver (firstname.lastname@example.org). Congratulations to my most recent happy couple, and what a memorable couple they are. They’re 2 of the nicest ladies you’ll ever meet! I have to say, I really really enjoyed being a part of their special day, which was very relaxed and incredibly friendly.
I know what you’re thinking…. How does Karen Loudon consistently get such beautiful brides? I can’t even count how many times I meet with a bride for the first time and have to pick my jaw up off of the floor. Kupala was one of those, AND generous and sweet. She’s the total package for a fun guy like Jeff and they’re perfect together, it just doesn’t get a whole lot cuter than these two. . .their wedding at the Lalamilo Beach Bungalow in Waialea Bay was everything I love about weddings. Laid back, on the beach, intimate with great people and lots of Hawaiian Kava Kava.
